I originally gave Newport Meadows a horribly
scathing review a month ago because upon first impression I thought the places looked a little aged. I have been to the facility every single day since to visit a family member who recently suffered a stroke. When he arrived, he could not move his arms or his legs, he could not get out of a wheelchair, or in and out of bed. He is now able to feed himself and he can move his wheelchair around a bit with his legs. Trust me when I say, this is a huge accomplishment.
I have watched how attentive, patient, and helpful every member of their staff is on a daily basis. The Newport Meadows staff take charge when they need to but are very empathetic and caring at the same time. They are “good people” and they take care of their patients.
I feel bad about my initial review. They are short staffed this is true, but EVERY care facility is short staffed. What they accomplish at the end of each day is beyond amazing. I could never do what they do. I am happy that my father-in-law is at Newport Meadows and is being cared for by an amazing staff.
Also, a big special thanks to Rosemary who looks out for my father-in-law in the rehab area while simultaneously being very aware of every one of her patients. She gets things done right. “Rosemary, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!” So, in short, I humbly apologize for my initial rant because I was not aware of how challenging your jobs can be every single day.
I initially posted pics of food on the floor as if you were a restaurant or hotel. I didn’t realize how that food got there. I have witnessed many patients spill their food or even blatantly pushing their trays on the floor as I walked your hallways. Many of the patients are not even aware they’re doing this. The staff cannot possibly clean it all up in seconds. Because of other pending emergencies a little crumbs here and there just has to wait until after patients get fed, changed, and their health issues addressed first.
I want people who have left bad reviews (like myself) to realize that sooooo much goes into running a facility like this; with an ongoing Covid pandemic and shortage of medical professionals, Newport Meadows is working hard to provide the best service possible. I have had the opportunity to be in this place every single day for an entire month, I have witnessed how hard they work; so let’s cut them some slack and stand behind them.
And for those of you who read this and have family members in there, VISIT THEM.
This is an excellent facility and I have witnessed the staff perform with verve, grace and professionalism during some very stressful situations. Keep up the great work.
